The founding family, the Peche's, are a very close family who believes greatly in our San Antonio community. We are proud Texans, business owners and artists. We saw a need in the local art scene and as a family we have worked together ever since on filling that need. We have been quite blessed to have the local art community embracing our vision which created another family, the Art at the Jalapeno family of artists.
We still have further to grow. More art styles to add, art classes, gallery events, community beautifying and so much more. Together with the local community, artists, advertisers and supporters like you, we hope to make that dream grow into one of the greatest supporting arts organizations the world has ever seen!
Who We Are
Art at the Jalapeno is a grassroots art movement in San Antonio, Texas, bringing an inclusive atmosphere to the local art scene. Our members and artists include newbies, amateurs, professionals and college professors of art. Art at the Jalapeno was started in 2007 with a few small art shows, which in time grew into the wonderfully diverse gallery show you see now.
Art at the Jalapeno believes in giving back to our local community. One way we give back is going into local schools and colleges to educate the students on the local art community, art related job fields and differing types of art while we have a few local artists live painting. We firmly believe that by engaging students and sparking that excitement we can encourage them to tap into their inner creativity which helps them to open up to new ideas. Creativity goes hand in hand with art, speaking, writing, business building, inventing and much more. Please feel free to fill out our Contact Form if you would like to host an Art at the Jalapeno presentation at your school or organization!
Pie to the People - March 2011 - 2013
We participated in the Pie to the People by the SMART Gallery for 3 years at downtown's La Villita. We represented the Art at the Jalapeno with a large group of artists showing off their skills with eye catching live painting displays! That's How We ART!
Art Center of Corpus Christi Art at the Jalapeno show.
On April 5th, 2013 the Art at the Jalapeno stormed the beaches of Corpus Christi with over 19 artists from San Antonio, Texas. Our group of artists live painted during the Corpus Christi 1st Friday event and the local community loved it! Live painting is not something you can easily find in Corpus and we are firm believers that live painting not only shows off the individual artist's skills, but also ignites creativity and curiosity in those who watch it, often inspiring them to being creating art themselves! Viva Jalapeno!
Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Jan. 2012
January of 2012 the Art at the Jalapeno brought over 15 Jalapeno group artists to volunteer on Extreme Makeover Home Edition! There we spent 5 days and nights working with the Design Team doing faux painting, designing, cutting and other projects for the house. The house was built for wounded veteran, Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris and his family. The show aired Monday, December 10, 2012 at 8pm on ABC.
The Art at the Jalapeno also submitted local works of art for the home! We were honored to have 5 pieces placed in the home from our local Jalapeno Artists Group artists! We wish the Harris family all the best in their new home. Viva Jalapeno!
